Pokka is a customizable NFC gift tag that brings a personal touch to any present. Just tap your phone on the Pokka tag, and a surprise message, video, photo album, or secret webpage comes to life — instantly and magically. Givers can easily edit what Pokka holds: a love note, a birthday wish, a hidden memory, or even a fun game. Receivers? All they need is a phone and a curious tap. Whether it’s for birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, or just because — **Pokka turns every gift into a moment of delight.
Project Description
This project started from a small idea: I wanted to create a more meaningful experience for people on special occasions — something that felt both surprising and heartfelt. I’ve always felt that NFC is an elegant technology — both technically and emotionally. There’s something beautifully simple about just tapping and having something happen. So I decided to embed a dynamic web experience inside a physical card using NFC — creating a gesture that feels low-tech in action, but full of digital possibilities underneath.
One of the key challenges in this project was balancing modularity with uniqueness. Each Pokka template needed to feel distinct, reflecting the individuality of every occasion, while still being supported by a scalable system. I developed a block-based storytelling structure, where each block represents a small narrative moment. Inside each block, components like text, images, and videos can be flexibly combined, ensuring that the content system remains both adaptable and expressive.
Pokka is small by design, but it represents the kind of interaction I care about: simple, thoughtful, and a little unexpected. It’s a reflection of how I like to work — mixing technical tools with emotional intent to make everyday moments just a bit more meaningful.
